Our Year 3 superstars have made a wonderful start to the year in Maths. We have just finished our first topic of 'number and place value' where the children have been learning how to add and subtract ones, tens and hundreds to and from a 3 digit number. As always, our learning begins using practical resources to ensure the children understand the process involved in the calculations, and from there they have flown! As always, we have encouraged lots of discussions and explanations around the calculations so, fingers crossed, when you ask your child "which digit will change when I add 20 to 345?", they will be able to tell you with great confidence!

We have also been revising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables at the beginning of every maths lesson, and we are all impressed with the rapid increase in their recall speed. I dare you to challenge them to a duel on 'Hit The Button' and see if you can get more than 20 correct answers in a minute!
