Stonehenge
Our first trip of Year 3 rocked
This term, Year 3 have been learning all about the Stone Age. We have found out about the three different periods of the Stone Age, why this period of time is known as 'prehistory' and how artefacts found by archaeologists have helped us to understand how people lived thousands of years ago.
Armed with our new-found knowledge and understanding, Year 3 hopped onto the coach and travelled to the most famous Stone Age monument in the World; Stonehenge.
Each class enjoyed a walk around the stone circle in inclement weather and an educational workshop run by specialist volunteers. Here, we spent time learning about the site itself, what barrows are and what they contained and importantly, how the stones were transported and lifted into place. This video shows you how we think it might have been done:
It was a fantastic trip and a great way to build upon and celebrate our learning within this fascinating topic.
Please have a look through the photographs to see what we got up to.
