Fantastic beasts and how to make them.
In Year 4, we designed and made clay dragons.
Following the school's newsletter at the end of January, we wanted to show off the children's fantastic clay modelling skills. They have been working extremely hard to learn new skills in order to make their very own clay dragon.
As you can see from the photos, we had lots of different designs and outcomes. The children started with a tennis ball sized piece of clay, some made them into small parts and connected them. Once connected they used pinching and pulling techniques to add the detail including spikes and facial features. We left them to air dry and for the final session we painted them with acrylic paints.
