What you will need: 

Full fat milkshake

Small and large zip-lock bags 

Ice

Salt 

And a lot of arm strength. 

We wanted to get the children excited about Science so the Year 4 team thought the best way to do this was to involve food. The children learnt about the chemical reaction between the ice and salt which drew out the energy (heat) from the milkshake, causing the molecules to crystallise resulting in ICE CREAM!. 

It was a very messy morning but enjoyed by all. Especially when they got to taste their experiment.
