Year 5 Debate and Community Lunch

Year 5 hosted a shared lunch and debate with their grandparents and members from our local commuity. The two classes went head to head on the topics of 'Should children all have mobile phones?' and 'Should all packed lunches be Fair Trade?'
With many of their grandparents in the audience as well as Rev Alison Brown and her husband Steve Brown (who helped Odiham receive Fair Trade Status), Year 5 split their classes to go against eah other in our first Community debate. Following a two week unit learning about Fair Trade, the children had an opportunity to argue against each others points and put their vote to the audience. Standing up in front of lots of people and delivering their points without reading off notes with confidence was a huge learning curve and one they should be really proud of. They were superb!
