School Council visit Houses of Parliament
After taking the train up into London, the School Council enjoyed a brilliant tour around the Houses of Parliament on the day after the Brexit vote! Although we missed seeing the PM, they went into the House of Lords, observed the House of Commons in action from the viewing gallery and saw the Great Hall. They then took part in a workshop, learning about the value of indivudal choice and freedom. Our MP then came and joined us and answered some excellent questions about the life of an MP (and whether schools were going to receive more funding!).
Later in the day, we were lucky enough to see inside Number 10 Downing Street (as others entered), and toured around some of the main sites of London including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abby and Trafalgar Square. An amazing experience, especially for those where this was their first trip into London.
