RAF 100
Mayhill have been taking part in the RAF 100 celebrations.
Well done to all of the children at Mayhill who sub-mitted a design for the aircraft of the future competition to mark 100 hundred years of the RAF. Many of the designs were ingenious and had great forethought into what the future might indeed look like.
The designs ranged from ’Star Trek’ style ‘Teleporters’ to rocket style spaceships. A panel of judges from RAF Odiham had the privilege of judging all the entries and 3 were selected. In 1st place was Henry Pritchard (year 5), 2nd place Evelyn Rylance (year 6) and 3rd place to Ryan Gillespie (year 3).
On Wednesday, 4th April the children’s pictures, having been placed into a leather bound book, were buried within a time capsule at RAF Odiham. The children and their families attended to witness the time capsule being buried. The capsule itself was designed and engineered by Robert Mays students to an exceptional standard. The burial of the capsule was complemented by a speech from the Station Commander and a flyby from a Tornado, along with being given a tour of a chinook.
