Emergency School Closure Advice

Snow

If the school is unable to open for the school day due to weather, parents should access: http://www.hants.gov.uk/schoolclosures.

The decision to close will be made by the Head teacher often in communication with the Head teacher at Buryfields and we will always try our best to make this decision by 7.30am. Parents can also find out by listening to Eagle Radio 96.4FM and/or keeping an eye on this webpage. We will always do our best to update it as early as we can for your convenience.

Often during heavy snow, the difficulties are greatest for teaching staff, most of whom commute many miles. Unfortunately, even if the children can get in, we are unable to open the school unless we have sufficient teachers to teach the children.  However, if Mayhill does open during the snow, we would always recommend sending them in with wellies, gloves and a spare pair of trousers so that they can enjoy playing in the snow and still by warm and dry in class.

School Closure during the school day

If the school has had to close for any other reason during the school day e.g. heating system breaks down, parents will receive a text and/or email and be asked to come and collect their child. We are unable to let your child walk home without verbal permission from you that day.
