Extra-Curricular
Information about clubs being run will be sent out at the start of each new term, with a deadline of when children need to sign up by. We cannot guarantee applications after this date will get a place in the club.
We strive to offer outstanding quality and variety of choice of extra curriculum clubs. Every term there is a range of clubs in sport, music and arts and crafts, both during and after school.
Clubs run for 10 weeks each term and cost £10 for the term (free for children who receive pupil premium funding)
Please see below for an example of clubs we offer.
Sports Clubs
Many of our staff have a background in PE or Sports Science and hold national qualifications in the teaching of cricket, rugby, netball and athletics. Children who attend clubs will get an opportunity to represent the school through inter-school tournaments and from there can go on to represent the county. In addition we are keen to support families whose children attend academies or regional competitions in sport.
Creative Arts
Many of our staff also run clubs with a focus on art, musical theatre or even board games! These lead to opportunities to interact with the local community, for example performing at the Christmas Extravaganza!
Music Lessons
We are lucky to be able to provide Hampshire Music Service peripatetic tuition as well as Rocksteady tuition, where the musicians can work towards formal grades or just play for fun - there is no pressure. With support of the Odiham Music Society, Mayhill is able to offer a few bursary places (please contact the office for more information) for those that want to trail an instrument before commiting to lesson full time. All musicians are encouraged to show their learning - at the same time inspiring others - in performances to the school and parents.
Music lessons are available either individually or in pairs/groups within the school day. We currently have children learning to play the violin, keyboard, clarinet and guitar, as well as children enjoying vocal lessons. Children are also available to join 'Rock Steady' where they will learn to play instruments as part of a band. This is enormously popular, with end of term concerts to showcase their talents. More information is available through the school office.
Can you help run a club?
If you have a hobby or talent and think you are able to offer an after school club for either half a term or longer, do please contact the school office. Sign language? Chess? Cookery? Tennis? Computing? Learning a language? (All volunteers in school are required to have a DBS check).
