SRE
Sex Education
What is sex and relationship education?
It is a group of lessons taught by their class teacher about physical, moral and emotional development. We discuss the importance of stable and loving relationships, healthy friendships, respect, love and care. SRE is one of three themes that make up our PSHE curriculum.
You may be aware that last year, The Relationships Education, RSE, and Health Education (England) Regulations 2019 have made Relationships Education compulsory in all primary schools. Sex education is not compulsory in primary schools.
In Year 6, this is covered over three sessions starting with a revision of puberty, before discussing conception and birth. These lessons will be carried out in the second half of the summer term, with lots of opportunity for discussion and questions.
