Year 4 step back in time for a Titanic Day. This was an area of fascination for the children and we were so proud of the critical thinking they showed when discussing historical facts. The children compared and contrasted different time periods through experiencing class differences and investigated what life was like on the Titanic for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class passengers compared to now. We looked at how the sinking of the Titanic was significant and caused many positive consequences for the world now – such as always having enough lifeboats and even having an ice patrol.
Even though some of the lucky 1st class passengers even got a drink of squash and a whole biscuit, all children still showed amazing respect to their peers. Well done to all. We investigated primary and secondary sources of information, invented and communicated our own stories of how we came to have the artifacts today. What a busy Friday for us!
