The Peer Mentor role at Mayhill School is a dedicated Year 5 and 6 responsibility within school. The children apply at the beginning of term to become a Peer Mentor and those who are selected are responsible for planning, organising and delivering a variety of different games and activities throughout the school year. Together, in pairs and during lunch time ,they run their own games and reward children who show evidence of demonstrating the Mayhill habits with golden tickets. The dedicated Peer Mentor notice board in school shows which game is being played that day and a photo of the children running them. Our Peer Mentors are all positive school role models who spend their lunchtimes dedicating time to running games that the children enjoy and offering them support and encouragement. This in time helps to improve their self-esteem, confidence, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
