School Council

Watch this space for our School Council team for 2024-2025.

As representatives of their peers, our motto is:

What have the team been up to?

2023-2024

This term the team have been bouncing around lots of ideas to make our school more eco-friendly, including:

  • Ensuring all classrooms have usable recycling bins and help the class to use them correctly.
  • Introducing ‘eco-points’ in conjunction with house points for children seen looking after their school environment.
  • Class seedlings – giving children the responsibility of growing plants to sell, raising funds for gardening equipment.
  • Developing the ‘Secret garden’ with the staff Eco-Commitee
  • Starting an Eco-Club to look after the green areas of our school
  • Investigating how to become and official ‘Eco-School’

The team were eager to get our school eco-ready with a quick win, starting in the classrooms. After some investigation, they found that only 1/2 of the classrooms had useable recycling bins and 2 classrooms had no recycling bins at all! The team set to work to put this right by writing to Mrs McGillivray to request some money to buy new bins for every classroom and two additional areas of the classroom. Mrs McGillivray agreed and gave the team the funds to start their eco quest. Well done team – first item on the agenda complete!
