Safeguarding

At Mayhill the health and safety of all children is of paramount importance. Parents send their children to school each day with the expectation that our school provides a secure environment in which their children can flourish through our vision. It is our responsibility to ensure this happens.

We ensure that everyone working in our school has successfully completed the necessary clearances to enable them to work with children.  We have staff members who are specifically trained and the Headteacher is nominated as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within school.

Part of our legal duty to safeguard our children may also include us needing to consult specifically with and take advice from, the Police or Children’s Social Care, should the need arise. By working closely together as a staff and with our partner agencies, we firmly believe that we will continue to offer a safe learning environment for all our children.

Please take the time to read our policies and do not hesitate to contact the school should you have any questions about this.

Concerns about the safeguarding of any child

If you have any concerns about the welfare or well-being of another child, we would encourage you to do one of two things:

  1. Talk to one of the Safeguarding Leads here. The Headteacher, Mrs McGillivray, is the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), and the Assistant Headteachers, Mr Peaple and Mrs Hall, are the Deputy Safeguarding Leads. They are available by phoning the school office.
