Historians at Mayhill

We have looked carefully at historical artefacts and drawn our own conclusions and interpretations from them. The children loved investigating the items from the Titanic and came up with some really unique and interesting observations. George commented “I think these [playing cards] were used by the men in first class, they would have played games after dinner in the smoking lounges.” Whilst Lily noticed that “Theres a young boy holding a big sign that says about the sinking, and I also have the newspaper with the same headline on it so I think the boy was selling this newspaper to people.” Poppy discovered “These two might link, I think this was a jewellry box as it has a hand sewn picture and has some water marks and its about the right size for this piece of jewellry so perhaps it comes from this box.”
