This term in Geography, we have been learning about North America, and in particular, Las Vegas. We have looked at how they get supplies like water and energy, despite being in the middle of a desert. We also found out about their main water and energy sources like the Colorado River, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. We are learning all of this to help us to design our own sister town which is more sustainable than Las Vegas. Many of our designs use solar panels and wind turbines as sources of electricity, and man-made lakes for water. There are also lots of public transportation methods like air ports and train stations. We have also come up with names for our cities, like Las Tango, Area 52 and Sustaincity. We have enjoyed every week and have had great fun doing it.
